Customer story Dole Nordic
Dole Nordic is a group of fruit and vegetable companies in Sweden, Finland and Denmark, packing and selling fresh produce from around the world.
Challenge
Now that the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) has arrived, Dole Nordic has to show that its packaging meets the standards of the new regulation. Dole Nordic is manufacturer, importer and distributor under the PPWR, each with different obligations.
Some products are packed at Dole Nordic's own sites and some by suppliers, across a large and variable product range.
Before Simvia
For Petter Siljedahl, Technical Administrator at Dole Nordic, the main concern was how to build on the company's existing packaging documentation for the PPWR. A single finished package can combine parts from several suppliers, each sending its documents in its own format.
Solution
Dole Nordic mapped its products and packaging in Simvia, so the team sees how each package and its parts fit together. The team now requests and reviews supplier information there as products or packaging change.
"The document review tools help us assess supplier documentation presented in many different formats," says Siljedahl.
Result
Dole Nordic now builds declarations of conformity (DoCs) for complete packaging units in Simvia, from each component's documents.
"The biggest difference is that we have brought our packaging data and documentation into a shared, systematic structure linked to each product… A key step forward is that we now create DoCs for complete packaging units, drawing on the documentation for each individual component," says Siljedahl.
